Who is On Late Night Tonight in Comedy: Week of October 5, 2020

Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

This week, Jimmy Kimmel does a late night double-header, Colbert has your live debate coverage and Bill Burr teaches us that S is for Saturday Night Live.

It’s now become a comedy tradition each year during the NBA Finals. Jimmy Kimmel does a prime time version of his late night show as the pre-show entertainment before each game of the National Basketball Association’s championship series. Fortunately, even in a year where everything is so unsure, the tradition continues.

Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night” will air Tuesday evening at 8pm et on ABC. JKL will also be airing during its regular late night time slot as well this week. Jimmy Kimmel’s guest on JKL: Game Night will be the one and only Bill Murray. After David Letterman retired to focus on growing his beard, Bill Murray who was not only Letterman’s greatest, but also his first guest, needed a place to hang on late night television. The Ghostbuster turned Academy Award nominee chose Jimmy Kimmel Live.

And now Bill will be on hand for Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night on Tuesday before Game 4 of the NBA Finals, which is amazing considering that Bill Murray’s favorite team, the Chicago Bulls, aren’t even in the Finals. Currently, the L.A. Lakers leads the finals 2 games to 1 over the Miami Heat. Bill Murray will be on JKL:GN to promote his new film “On The Rocks” which is due in out on Friday, October 23rd. “On The Rocks” co-stars Rashida Jones, Marlon Wayans and Jenny Slate. The new action dramedy is written and directed by Sofia Coppola who directed Bill Murray in his Oscar nominated role in “Lost in Translation“.

Also this week, Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night will air on Friday night at 8pm as well. This edition of Jimmy Kimmel’s prime time special will air prior to Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

Tuesday is Legends Night with our late night hosts. Besides Bill Murray appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night on Tuesday at 8pm, Jerry Seinfeld will be on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS at its regular 11:30pm et time slot. Jerry will be plugging his new book, “Is This Anything?“, available this Tuesday. This is Jerry Seinfeld’s first book in 25 years and it’s the unveiling of his comedy files. It’s the book version of all the legal pad notes on comedy that Seinfeld kept in accordion files during his 40-plus years in show business.

Also Tuesday night, the woman Robin Williams affectionately referred to as “Madam Whoops”, Whoopi Goldberg will be on the Late Late Show with James Corden. Whoopi will be letting fans know about the upcoming season of the TV series version of “The Stand” based on the Stephen King work. Whoopi Goldberg plays Mother Abagail on the CBS All Access series which premieres its new season on December 17th.

On Wednesday night, Stephen Colbert continues his political tradition of going live after a political debate on CBS. The Late Show will be live on Wednesday after your local news to discuss the Vice-Presidential Debate between VP Mikey Pence and Joe Biden’s running-mate Senator Kamala Harris. Stephen Colbert will have America’s new favorite mayor, Mayor Pete Buttiigieg on live with him to break down the debate.

And even though it’s not the real Kamala Harris, Jimmy Fallon will have the next best thing on Wednesday night on the Tonight Show. Fallon welcomes Saturday Night Live‘s full-time Kamala Harris to the Tonight Show when he has Maya Rudolph on the show.

We’re excited about Friday’s edition of the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. Nate Bargatze will be making his 9th appearance on the Tonight Show on Friday night. Nate is currently on his “Nate Bargatze: One Night Only” tour. While most comedy clubs are shutting down comedy shows across the country due to the Covid Crisis, Nate has found a way around it.

The “Nate Bargatze: One Night Only” tour is a tour of drive-in movie theaters where his fans can watch him perform from the comfort and safety of their own vehicles. During October, Nate Bargatze will be playing drive-in theaters in Cleveland, Charlotte NC, Louisville, Indianapolis, Kansas City and Austin, Texas among other places. If you want to watch Nate Bargatze perform through your windshield, you can check out his dates at NateBargatze.com.

Then Saturday is the night we’re all waiting for in late night comedy. One of America’s top comics is making his debut as a Saturday Night Live host. Bill Burr will be hosting this weekend’s edition of SNL. Known for selling out his comedy shows wherever he goes, this will be the headliner’s first time hosting the late night variety series.

Besides his stand up, Bill Burr is known for hosting one the longest running podcasts in the country, the Monday Morning Podcast. He also stars in and created the Netflix animated series “F is for Family.” And Bill Burr’s acting career is also well underway with roles in films and TV shows including “The King of Staten Island“, “Date Night“, “New Girl” and “The Mandalorian” on Disney+.

And remember, especially if you happen to be the President of the United States, don’t make the CDC ask it, go ahead and mask it!
