Spencer Jones' sitcom Mister Winner has been cancelled, the comic has revealed.

Taking to Twitter this morning, he tweeted: "I know it's not important in the grand scheme of things but I wanted to let you know that Mr Winner is not going to have a second series.

"I had a lovely time making and want to thank Matt Morgan for writing it for me and the BBC for having me in it. Thanks for watching x "

The BBC One comedy, in which Jones played Leslie Winner, an eternally optimistic klutz, co-starred Lucy Pearman as his wife, Shaun Williamson, Leon Annor and Oliver Maltman, and was one of two BBC sitcoms based on his absurdist stand-up, along with the more surreal, short-form The Mind Of Herbert Clunkerdunk, which also co-starred Pearman.

Directed by Andrew Chaplin and produced by Richard Webb for BBC Studios, Mister Winner ran for six episodes in March this year, following a 2017 pilot.

The clip of him avoiding using a plastic bag in a supermarket, has attracted more than 50 million views across social media:

Jones hasn't been twiddling his thumbs over lockdown though, releasing this music track, Some People.
