Staged scoops best comedy award
Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing, and Elis James and John Robins also triumph at Broadcasting Press Guild Awards
David Tennant and Michael Sheen’s lockdown series Staged has been named best comedy at the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards.
The series saw off competition from fellow nominees Friday Night Dinner, Inside No. 9, This Country and The Trip To Greece.
Tennant also won the best actor for his role in the BBC One comedy and for playing serial killer Dennis Nilsen in ITV’s Des. While Quiz, which starred Sheen as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire host Chris Tarrant, won best drama miniseries.
Meanwhile, Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing was named best entertainment show ahead of Taskmaster, Race Across The World and Big Zuu’s Big Eats.

Radio 5 Live’s How Do You Cope?…With Elis James and John Robins was named best podcast
I May Destroy You was the big winner , scooping best drama series, plus best actress and best writer for creator and star Michaela Coel.
