Is this the world's first playable sitcom?
Game developers are releasing what they are billing as the world’s first playable sitcom on Nintendo Switch.
3 Out Of 10 revolves around the misadventures of animator Midge Potter who works for a troubled game company that has yet to earn a review score higher than the titular figure.
According to the description, ‘Midge finds herself fending off shark-obsessed protestors, shuttling sacrificial interns back to the campus halls from whence they came, and stocking up on foam bullets for an office-wide battle royale. Small wonder the Shovelworks team can’t seem to finish their game. How are you supposed to get any work done with sentient mannequins and a flamethrower-obsessed character artist wreaking daily havoc?’
The game mixes styles including cover-based shooting, side-scrolling brawls brain-teasing puzzles and pinball.
3 Out Of 10 was initially released as a series of weekly episode on Epic Games Store in the autumn, where it attracted 4.5million players and an average score of 85 per cent among professional reviewers, according to Metacritic.
But now developers Terrible Posture Games are releasing it as one title, with new special features including an ‘open explore’ mode and director commentary.
The game’s creative director Joe Mirabello said it offered ‘a fresh look at what it’s really like to be a game developer’.
3 Out Of 10 will launch for Nintendo Switch on March 3, priced $9.99. Here is the trailer:
