Brooklyn Nine-Nine comes to an end

    (For a second time)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is to come to an end – again.

American broadcaster NBC has announced that Andy Samberg’s police comedy will end with its upcoming eighth season.

The network revived the sitcom after Fox, its former home, cancelled the show after five series in 2018.

Production on the final run of ten episodes has been hit by the Covid-19, but it could return to US screens in the autumn.

Lisa Katz from NBC said: ‘I still remember the palpable excitement that night in 2018 when we announced Brooklyn Nine-Nine would be returning to its rightful home at NBC

‘We’ve always loved these characters and the way they make us laugh while also masterfully weaving in storylines that make us reflect as well.

‘A big thank you to our wonderful partners – [showrunner] Dan Goor, the writers, producers and the incredibly talented cast and crew – for a comedy whose legacy will stand the test of time.’

The series – which airs on E4 in the UK –  also stars Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Lo Truglio, Dirk Blocker and Joel McKinnon Miller. Chelsea Peretti left after series six.
