Watch Dave Chappelle’s Sixteen Minute Saturday Night Live Monologue
Last night Dave Chappelle hosted Saturday Night Live’s first post-election episode, because Lorne Michael’s anticipated that regardless of the election’s outcome, Chappelle could pull off a great opening. He was right.
Chappelle had a tough job. He didn’t know if he’d be delivering a monologue to a country celebrating a Biden Win, a Trump Win or in limbo until hours Saturday morning. And yet he was expected to deliver thoughts about wherever the country found itself.
He succeeded. And he was really funny. And in true Chappelle fashion, he did not restrict himself to a standard time limit, prompting people on social media to call Chappelle’s monologue a mini-comedy special.
Dave talked about pain, and frustration, in his sixteen plus minute set, but he also talked about letting go of hate,

On social media reactions were exactly what you would expect. Some people were predictably angry at Chappelle’s tell-it=like-he-sees-it combination of comedy and truth, but nobody was disappointed. The entire episode was SNL’s strongest of 2020 and worth the watch, particularly for the first sketch of the night, about two people who lost their jobs, which had everyone in the sketch breaking.
