Who is On Late Night Tonight in Comedy: Week of October 19, 2020
Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?
This week, JKL is “very nice”, Colbert welcomes a pair of music legends and Friday night is all about politics.
It only took 14 years, but everyone’s Kazakhstani “Borat” is back in America with a sequel to his 2006 comedy mockumentary “Borat“. His alter-ego, Sacha Baron Cohen will be stopping by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday night. Of course, if we’ll be getting Cohen or Borat on JKL, it’s hard to say. We may even get both.
SBC’s new comedy “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” gets through customs with Borat returning to make American conservatives look silly once again on Friday, October 23rd and it will be available on Amazon Prime Video. BTW, Sacha Baron Cohen has another film currently streaming as well which we’re about to talk about.
Michael Keaton who’s known for his comedic and action star roles will be making the rounds in late night this week to promote his most recent dramatic film part. The former “Batman” and “Beetlejuice” actor plays a historic figure in the new Netflix film, “The Trial of the Chicago 7.” Keaton portrays former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark who was a key figure in the case involving the federal government against the Yippies and the New Left in 1969.
Look for Michael Keaton on Tuesday on Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC and then again on Thursday night on Late Night with Seth Meyers on NBC. “The Trial of the Chicago 7” starring Sacha Baron Cohen as Abbie Hoffman, along with Eddie Redmayne, Jeremy Strong and Michael Keaton is currently streaming on Netflix.
Tuesday night, Adam Sandler stops by to visit a fellow SNL alum, Seth Meyers, when he’s a guest on Late Night. Sandler began a new Halloween tradition this year with his Halloween family comedy on Netflix, “Hubie Halloween.” The trick or treat comedy co-stars several members of the Sandler Posse including Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider, Kevin James, Tim Meadows and everyone’s favorite Maya Rudolph.
In a non-comedy highlight, on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, Stephen Colbert welcomes two giants of the music world. First on Tuesday, Colbert’s guest on the Late Show will be the country legend that all other acts are measured by, the great Dolly Parton. Maybe Miss Dolly will let us know her decision on that offer from Playboy. Then on Wednesday night, Colbert has the Boss on the Late Show, Bruce Springsteen. Watch for everyone who has to work the next morning in New Jersey to be coming in a little late to the office.
Programming Note: On Thursday, Stephen Colbert will be going live with the Late Show after your local news coverage, following the third and final Presidential Debate between President Donald Trump and former VP Joe Biden.
Then Friday is political comedy night in late night. First, there’s a new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher at 10pm on HBO. Bill Maher and his panel will dissect the last Presidential Debate and these last few long weeks of the campaign. Then at 11:30pm et, the day after his Thursday live show, Stephen Colbert will have a new Late Show on Friday night which Colbert is calling “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert 2020 Campaign Coverage Special.”
Finally, there’s a couple of firsts on Saturday Night Live this weekend. Once again this week, it’s another first-time host (the third so far this season) with Adele as your Master of Ceremonies this week on SNL along with first-time musical guest H.E.R. This will be the fourth new show in a row out of five to kick off the new Saturday Night Live season.
Remember to consider saving your late night comedy shows to watch while you’re on line waiting hours to vote this year!
