Paddy Raff and Soft Border Patrol up for RTS award

    Northern Ireland nominees announced

Mockumentary Soft Border Patrol and sketch pilot The Paddy Raff Show have been shortlisted for best scripted comedy in the Royal Television Society awards for Northern Ireland.

They are the only two nominees for the award, which will be given out on November 12.

Raff’s show, which was made during lockdown by Nice One Productions, has already been picked up for a four-part series by BBC Northern Ireland, starting at Christmas.

He also recently hosted Stand Up For Live Comedy for BBC One in Belfast, and next year plans a run of shows at The SSE Arena Belfast.

Soft Border Patrol was made by Glasgow-based The Comedy Unit and aired a three-episode third series early in the year. Its stars include comics Neil Delamere, Shane Todd, Christian Talbot and Michael Stranney.

Vikkie Taggart, chair of the  Royal Television Society Northern Ireland said: ‘I’m delighted to say that despite the challenges we’ve had this year, we also recorded our highest level of entries, which bears testament to the resilience and strength of our industry and the amazing wealth of high quality content which has been produced over the past 12 months, often in very difficult conditions.
