Eurydice Dixon's killer could die behind bars

Jaymes Todd loses his final appeal

The man who raped and murdered comedian Eurydice Dixon as she walked home from a gig in Melbourne has lost his last appeal.

Jaymes Todd was told he could now die behind bars, after Australia’s High Court tossed out his final bid for leniency. It took Justice Virginia Bell just 20 minutes to reach her decision, local press is reporting.

Todd, now 21, was last year given an indefinite sentence with no chance of parole within 35 years – which his lawyers had said was too harsh given his youth and his guilty plea. But that argument was thrown out today.

Ms Dixon was just 22 when she was killed in a Melbourne park near her home in the early hours of the morning as she walked  home from a city-centre venue.
