Dane Baptiste to pilot Bamous for BBC Three

Satirical show about the limited opportunities for black talent

Dane Baptiste is to front a one-off satirical show for BBC Three about the limited opportunities for black talent in the UK.

Bamous is based on the fictional Nasblaq index, which determines who allowed up and down the ladder of fame and success at any one time.

The comic first came up with the idea for his 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show, Reasonable Doubts and the new half-hour show will feature sketches, stunts and archive material to make the point.

Baptiste said: ‘I’m so incredibly proud of this commission. Bamous is the show I’ve always wanted to make, where I can explore and celebrate blackness, Britishness and how both of those elements combined can create a distinct and hilarious piece of work - with a style unlike anything on the planet right now.’

BBC Three controller Fiona Campbell added that Baptiste would be supported by ‘some of the most exciting comedy performing, writing and production talent in the country’.

Broadcast details have not yet been announced.
