Who is On Late Night Tonight in Comedy: Week of September 7, 2020

Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

Hopefully you’re all enjoying a rest from your labors this Monday. Like on any federal holiday, all of our late night talkers are taking the day off and most of them will be back to work on Tuesday. With the exception of the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and A Little Late with Lilly Singh, all the shows are back and open for business.

One of the last late night shows to move from the home office and back into the studio this week is Late Night with Seth Meyers. Ever since the Corona shutdown, Seth has been working from home in his attic, his hallway, or any room where he could find space. Starting on Tuesday, Seth will follow the lead of some of his late night counterparts and once again do Late Night from the studio, just minus the studio audience.

Starting on Tuesday, Jimmy Kimmel Live has a fresh new week of guest hosts filling in for Jimmy. On Tuesday, Jimmy Kimmel’s got a really fun and interesting guest host minding the store for him. Josh Gad will be the guest host on JKL on Tuesday night. It will be great to see how Josh Gad handles a socially distancing talk show. Our prediction is that he’s going to be like a funny James Corden.

Kimmel’s other guest hosts this week include country singer Brad Paisley on Wednesday night, John Legend on Thursday evening and Nick Fury himself, Samuel L. Jackson hosting Friday night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live. It’ll be fun to watch Samuel L. ask all his guests,”What’s in your wallet?”.

Tuesday night’s highlighted comedy guests are mostly known for being behind the scenes. First, director, writer and producer Judd Apatow will be appearing on Conan on TBS. Then, one-third of the Lonely Island trio, Jorma Taccone is on Late Night with Seth Meyers on NBC. Jorma can currently be seen in front of the camera, co-starring in Seth Rogen’s new movie, “An American Pickle.”

On Wednesday, Conan O’Brien remotely welcomes Beth Stelling to Conan. Beth is one of the first comedians to have a special on the new HBO Max platform. “Beth Stelling: Girl Daddy” premiered last month on the new streaming service. It shouldn’t have been too difficult for Team Coco to get Beth Stelling booked on the show. After all, the executive producer of her new special is Conan O’Brien. These two will be comparing notes on Wednesday night on Conan.

Also on Wednesday night, Jimmy Fallon can look forward to a big bump in his mid-week ratings. Kevin Hart will be a guest on Wednesday’s Tonight Show. Kevin will be on the Tonight Show to talk about his new game show on E! called “Celebrity Game Face.” The game show, which is a mix of trivia questions and physical challenges, recently returned to E! with all new episodes which were remotely produced with the celebrities playing from home.

Kevin Hart is also one of the country’s celebrity Covid-19 survivors. It’s good to know he’s feeling better and we’re pretty confident that Jimmy Fallon will remember to ask what that experience was like on Wednesday’s Tonight Show.

On Friday, in time for the 19th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks, Bill Maher will be back with the politically charged HBO late night talk show, Real Time. Bill Maher also recently moved back into his audience-less studio after doing the show from his backyard during the first months of the pandemic.

Finally on Saturday, we are inching closer to the return of Saturday Night Live for its 46th season. No one including the cast knows what a new fall season of SNL will look like, but plans are for the show to return under socially distancing guidelines this fall. This weekend, SNL is replaying one of its higher rated episodes from last season. Saturday Night Live will be a repeat this week hosted by former cast member Will Ferrell with musical guest, King Princess. This episode of SNL was last season’s Thanksgiving show which originally aired on November 23, 2019.

Take care. Enjoy your Labor Day and don’t labor too much on your date off.
