Steve Royle makes Britain's Got Talent final

    Unanimous decision from judges

Comedian Steve Royle has become the first person through to the Britain’s Got Talent final.

The 51-year-old, from Manchester, impressed judges with his comedy juggling routine employing Ant and Dec as assistants.

David Williams said: ‘I nearly pushed my golden buzzer for you when I saw your audition because it's one of the funniest performances I've seen. I was totally wowed and if you are not in the final of BGT 2020 there will be no justice in the world.’

Alesha Dixon agreed: ‘You did not disappoint, you had me ugly laughing once again.’

Ashley Banjo, standing in for an injured Simon Cowell added: ‘It absolutely killed me. It was an incredible act, I really, really enjoyed it.’

The judges unanimously chose to send him through.

But he divided opinion on Twitter. One viewer posted: ‘Steve Royle might have been funny about 60/ 70 years ago. This feels embarrassingly old and extremely sad and outdated.’ But another said: ‘Steve Royle was definitely the winner, just hilarious absolutely hilarious. So glad he got through to the final.’

As well as being a regular on the circuit and supporting Dave Spikey on tour, Royle has performed in pantomime for the past 17 year, has a show on BBC Radio Lancashire and  in 2015 he performed 16 nights at The Manchester Arena as part of the Phoenix Nights Live show,

Here's his performance on  tonight's Britain's Got Talent:
