    Chortle Student Comedy Award finalists named

    Even if there isn't yet a final to compete in!

    The finalists have been chosen in this year’s Chortle Student Comedy Awards – even if details of the final have not yet been set.

    Our 27 semi-finalists were placed into three groups, and the top acts from each were chosen by panels of comedy bookers and agents, based on viewing videos of their full sets from the heats, which took place around the country before lockdown.

    Those who made the final are.

    • Omar Badawy, 22, originally from Cambridge and now studying a masters in digital media at London Metropolitan University 
    • Andy Bucks, 27,  studying for a doctorate in astrophysics at Cambridge University
    • Charlotte Cropper, 20, originally from Mansfield, studying performance and media at the University of Salford 
    • Hamish Duff, 20, originally from Stirling, studying history at St Andrews
    • Isaac Kean, 26, originally from Colchester, studying for a PhD in history and philosophy of science at Cambridge University
    • Joe-Kent Walters, 22, from Huddersfield, studying theatre and performance at Leeds
    • Grace Sanders, 20, from Hull, studying psychology at the university of York
    • Scott Redmond, 23, originally from Hawick and now studying medicine at the University of Dundee
    • George Tothill, 21, from Southend, now studying law at University College London
    • Sharon Wanjohi, 22, from Dagenham, studying English at the University of Southampton
    • Sam Williams, 23, from Maidenhead, studying drama and film at the University of Sussex

    The finalists have been named in the week the final should have taken place at the Edinburgh Fringe. Details of what form the final will actually take will be revealed once we know them!
